Cal/OSHA Standards Board Meeting Announcement: December 18, 2008

The Cal/OSHA Standards Board will hear comments on the following proposal on December 18, 2008 in Sacramento, California.

HIGH-VOLTAGE ELECTRICAL SAFETY ORDERS (Sections 2700 thru 2974 and new Sections 2985, 2987 & 2989)

This proposal is in response to the Fed/OSHA changes made in early 2007 and Assembly Bill 3000 which exempted Cal/OSHA from the Building Standards found in the Health and Safety Code.

The proposal makes numerous changes to the 74 page document including such things as:

- Definitions
- Approvals
- Examination, installation and use of equipment
- Marking and identification
- Overcurrent protection
- Grounding
- Wiring methods
- Enclosures
- Interrupting and isolating devices
- Transformers
- Control of motors and generators
- Workspace and guarding
- Communications systems
- Induction and dielectric heating equipment
- Integrated electrical systems

The proposed standard is substantially the same as the Federal standard.
