Upcoming Cal/OSHA Standards Board Meeting Announcement: June 18, 2009

The Cal/OSHA Standards Board will hear comments on the following proposals on June 18, 2009 in Oakland, California. 

FIXED LADDERS (Section 3277) 

Because of a fatality involving an employee falling from an elevated platform after descending a caged ladder which did not have a proper back guard this proposal was initiated.  It addresses a number of issues including the design of ladder cages, wells and landing platforms, counterweighted hatch covers and the use of ladder safety devices.  It also clarifies the requirements for fall protection and clearances for ladder wells. 

ELECTRIC BLASTING IN PROXIMITY TO RADIO, TELEVISION OR RADAR TRANSMITTERS (Section 5306) 

This proposal would update outdated references by deleting the current “Note” and amending the Section to address electric blasting signage requirements.
