1) Shanghai: Emission Standards for Air Pollutants from Boilers (DB31/387-2007) Issued on 13th June 2007 and became effective on 1st September 2007.

  • stipulates use of coal-fired boiler and the construction of heavy oil/residual oil-fired boiler which is forbidden within the Inner Ring Road in Shanghai since 1st September 2007.

Australia – Commonwealth, Victoria and NSW 1) Recognition of Canada as a Foreign Scheme (Chemicals Gazette No. C09, 4 September 2007) by NICNAS Recognized on 24 August 2007.

  • This was further detailed and published in the September 2007 Chemicals Gazette.
  • as of 1 November 2007 the New Substances Notification Regulations (Chemicals and Polymers) of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999) will be recognized as an approved foreign scheme for the purposes of sections 43 and 44 of the Industrial Chemicals (Notification and Assessment) Act 1989.
  • means that Canadian assessments can be taken into account as an Approved Foreign Scheme when new chemicals are being evaluated under Australia's National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) so that the relevant portions of the assessment need not be carried out again.

 
Malaysia 1) Adopted Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007 (Act 672) Adopted on 29 August 2007 and will become effective at a yet-to-be determined date.

    • provides for and regulate the management of controlled solid waste and public cleansing for the purpose of maintaining proper sanitation and for matters incidental thereto.
    • paves the way for an improvement in solid waste collection and management by the concession-holders.
