Basic Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of three years of safety and health experience.

Core Competencies:
- A combination of education, training, and experience to gain knowledge, skills, and abilities generally equivalent to those typically possessed by a high school graduate, and/or entry level safety experience.
- Typically possesses three or more years of experience in occupational safety, incident investigations, and/or ergonomics.
- Demonstrated experience with safety related regulatory matters and familiarity with Cal-OSHA or other regulatory process.
- Demonstrated experience managing and implementing small to medium size projects, as well as some experience managing cross-functional teams on the successful implementation of safety programs and processes.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience applying a customer focus to appropriately identify and respond to the client's business needs, and facilitate the formal presentation of recommendations to all levels of management.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, integrate people processes, and make strategic recommendations regarding the project scope, development, and implementation.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing effectively and collaborating with clients, peers, project personnel and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
- Must demonstrate the ability to take initiative and accountability for results.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to working according to the Edison Operating Priority of operating safely.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of the actions, values, and behaviors that constitute a strong safety culture.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Preferences:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Engineering or related technical field.
- Safety Certifications such as: Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Board Environmental Health & Safety Auditor (BEAC), Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

Typical Responsibilities:
This position will support Corporate Safety management by acting as a point of contact for the General Office located in Rosemead for Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) issues.

Typical responsibilities will include: providing consultation and technical expertise to business partners (Corporate Center, Information Technology and Operational Services) ranging from safety concerns to safety program implementation questions; working with Subject Matter Experts from other organizations on various subjects (e.g., fire prevention programs, emergency action programs, ergonomics programs, hazard communication, hazardous energy control, and reporting injuries and illness at work programs); providing interpretation of Cal/OSHA regulations, while supporting corporate center safety representatives; sustaining an effective safety program for all of corporate center and ensuring that all elements of Southern California Edison's Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) are implemented; determining safety training needs, developing and conducting training as well as reviewing training courses provided by departments to ensure the training meets the appropriate requirements; assisting in the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) site plans for the General Office; supporting clients with developing, implementing and conducting field inspections designed to identify potential hazards and ensuring corrective actions are timely implemented; conducting field assessments to ensure Corporate Safety Programs are effectively implemented; and making recommendations on EH&S opportunities and performing other duties and responsibilities as requested.
