Company Best Practice: Identification and Assessment of Stakeholder Input and Issues
As part of Intel's 2009 Corporate Responsibility Report, the process by which the company conducts its Corporate Responsibility Materiality Analysis is presented and described.
Intel uses the Sustainability Materiality Framework developed by the research firm AccountAbility to define corporate responsibility materiality, both for its 2009 Corporate Responsibility Report and for its strategy development.
First, the issues from a wide range of stakeholders and sources are identified. Then the issues are prioritized, using a consistent set of filters (key criteria) to determine the significance of each issues. A material matrix is used to plot issues by importance to Multiple stakeholders and impact on Intel's business. The matrix highlights the topics that are considered to be of greatest interest to multiple stakeholders and which have the greatest impact to Intel. Selected topics are internally reviewed by senior executives, and embedded in the internal decision-making and external review and communication processes.
This Corporate Responsibility Materiality Analysis Process is compliant with the GRI G-3 protocol.
