OSHA Extends Comment Period on Recordkeeping and Reporting Revisions Proposal

On September 28, 2011, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced that it was reopening the rulemaking record to extend the comment period on revising the recordkeeping and reporting requirements for work-related injuries and illnesses. OSHA extended the comment period in response to a September 15 request from the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) asking for an additional 30 days so that it can obtain data from OSHA and the Bureau of Labor Statistics that show how the agencies determined the Days Away, Restricted and Transfer (DART) rate for the industry over the past three years. It is on the basis of this data that OSHA has proposed to take the industry off the list of industries that are exempt  from the requirement to keep OSHA injury and illness records.

In keeping with the NADA request, OSHA has extended the comment period until October 28, 2011.  A copy of the Federal Register notice is attached below
