NIOSH to Hold Personal Protective Technology Stakeholder Meeting March 29, 2011

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Personal Protective Technology (PPT) Program and National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) will hold a stakeholder meeting on March 29, 2011, at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh Airport.

House Committee Approves OSHA Reform Bill

The House Education and Labor Committee approved July 21 legislation that would increase criminal and civil penalties for OSHA violations, strengthen whistleblower protections and speed up hazard abatement. The Robert C. Byrd Miner Safety and Health Act (H.R. 5663), passed on a largely party line vote of 30-17, would also provide stronger enforcement tools to the Department of Labor to enforce mine safety regulations.

On April 26, the Department of Labor's semiannual unified agenda was made available online at  www.dol.gov/asp/regs/agenda.htm and at www.regulations.gov.
